Description

The squat is a fundamental compound exercise that primarily targets the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings, while also engaging the core. It's a cornerstone movement for building lower-body strength and stability.

How to Perform

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly turned out.
  2. Position the barbell across your upper traps and grip it just outside shoulder width.
  3. Brace your core and keep your chest up.
  4. Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower into a squat.
  5. Drive through your heels to stand back up, keeping your torso upright.

Coaching Cues

  • Keep your chest proud and elbows under the bar.
  • Push your knees out in line with your toes.
  • Maintain a neutral spine throughout the movement.
